We'll talk more about this team on Saturday, but opportunities like this propel our students to pursue excellence and share the Gospel with students and families who would otherwise be outside of the LHS circle. Fundraisers like our auction help make these opportunities possible and supplement the grants we have already received. 

We want our students to lead lives of impact to the glory of Jesus Christ today, and long into the future. Setting our students on a path to do just that means providing moments for our students to lead academically, athletically, socially, and spiritually. I wish you all could be there for all of these moments, but I hope the Kinetic Kids story above is a small taste of the growth we see in students every day.

​We know that as flawed humans, we are, as Luther said, "unsuited to meet so great and difficult a task." However, with the help of the Holy Spirit and surrounded by a great crowd of believers, the work goes on, and we thank you for contributing a verse.

Guest are encouraged, but certainly not required, to dress for prom, whether this is an old school dress, tux from prom's past, or a modern take. Come ready to relax, have fun, play games, bid on items, or just come prepared to enjoy a night out and raise money for the school.

The LHS community has stepped up and supported our 1st annual golf tournament, The Big Give, and now we need your help for our largest fundraiser of the year.

This event is not only about fundraising, but it's a great opportunity for fellowship and family, the LHS family! Please don't shy away, thinking that this event is only about donations. Your presence is the greatest gift, as the fellowship that is created by your attendance is a key contribution to the ministry at LHS. We are a family! We would love to see you and perhaps some invited friends, to have a great night of fun, fellowship and family. No bidding required but gladly accepted if you desire.

Fellowship brings us together, and stewardship ensures that we properly manage the gifts God has given our ministry. Being good stewards means providing the best value for families attending LHS. We do our best to keep tuition prices as low as we can, which means the cost of tuition alone only covers some of the exciting programs we provide for our students. Pursuing excellence on the court, the stage, the classroom, the robot arena...means we depend on our donors to build a bridge and provide the extra funds we need to provide a complete high school experience that prepares our students for the next level of life.

Friday, January 27 the LHS students and staff participated in one of our annual service days, this time traveling to Hill Country Daily Bread. 

Students packed bags of rice, cleaned the warehouse, sorted clothes and shoes, and disposed of expired food to be reused as food for pigs. 

Lutheran High School has been partnering with Hill Country Daily Bread since 2014, before they moved into their wonderful current location. It has been exciting to watch the way this ministry has grown and how they are able to serve more people! 

Lutheran Girl’s Basketball Team Dominates in District Opener

In the first district game of the season, the girl’s varsity basketball team took on New Braunfels Christian Academy (NBCA). To begin the game, Gabby V. won the jump ball to give Lutheran possession first. The scoring for Lutheran started off well when Olivia D. made a layup. Ellie S. intercepted a NBCA pass, but Olivia missed a shot off of the steal, which led to NBCA grabbing the rebound and making a three-pointer. Lutheran found themselves down 5-2, but quickly bounced back after layups from Dani F. and Gabby to take the lead. Lutheran maintained the lead for the rest of the first quarter, but NBCA kept it close. At the end of the first quarter, Lutheran led 16-13. 

The second quarter started off with Olivia draining a three-pointer. She then clamped up on defense forcing the ball to go off of an NBCA player’s head, which gave Lutheran the ball. It was all Mustangs from there on out as multiple steals, fouls, and turnovers were committed by NBCA. By the time of a much needed timeout for NBCA, the Mustangs had built a 25-15 lead. Leah W. jumped into the action, and grabbed four rebounds, leading to a total of eight straight points for Lutheran. NBCA was only able to score two points in the second quarter. By the time the first half ended, the score was 36-15 in Lutheran’s favor.

The second half began with a Mustang miss and a defensive rebound by NBCA. After some back-and-forth action, NBCA was fouled and added their first points of the half. Then the scoring started for Lutheran with multiple two-pointers by Dani and Ellie. There were some more back-and-forth possessions until NBCA made a two-pointer bringing their third quarter total to three points. Lexi H. and Sydney H. entered the game for the first time in the second half. Dani nailed a mid-range shot, and Rachel rejected back-to-back shots. Sydney stole the ball and gave it to Ellie who made a beautiful between the legs pass to Mia F. for two. Kylie E. rejected a block and was fouled when she took it back down the court. She nailed both free throws. The quarter ended with a score of 54-18.

The final quarter was not much different. The Mustangs offense had a rough start after Olivia missed a layup. She immediately came back around and nailed a three-pointer. Olivia stole the ball again and returned it for a layup. NBCA made their only two points of the quarter. It proved a struggle for NBCA to fire on any kind of cylinders on offense. Sydney recorded another steal, which was returned for points. Ellie nailed another three-pointer, and the game finished with a final score of 68-20 in favor of the Mustangs.

Overall, the Lutheran girl’s basketball team excelled in their district opener against New Braunfels Christian Academy. Their performance on both offense and defense, hopefully, indicated the beginning of another successful season for the Lady Mustangs.

Congratulations to all of our robotics teams, including our FIRST Access Kinetic Kids team. Each team competed well today and our JV girls team took on an impossible task to pick up in ranks against teams who had a season record of 18 games and 8-10 wins coming into the final 5 matches of today. Their robot performed well and the girls were solid with the driving and game strategy. They also did great with their notebook, project board, and judge interviews to earn a 2nd place Motivate award.

The varsity girls continued to drive well and with more practice and fine tuning the autonomous, they will continue to be a force on the field as they advance to the Wild Card Round after winning the Connect Award! Their engineering notebook and project board efforts plus a well practiced presentation with a passionate and authentic voice earned them a next level event.

​The varsity boys did a great job of tuning the autonomous and driving a solid game. Their engineering notebooks, project board, and presentation and interviews with the judges were recognized with a 2nd place Inspire Award. Inspire award is the pinnacle award for the FIRST Tech Challenge. This team had to have solid amounts of quality material for design, code, motivate, connect and think to earn that award. This team earned the 2nd of four direct advancements to the Texas Central Regional Championship on February 25 in a location TBD. Way to go Mechanical Mustangs!
