Furnishing and decorating a dorm room requires a lot of items, including bedding, school supplies, bath items, kitchen utensils, and laundry supplies. Imagine trying to do this on your own without any parental support? The Mustang community will have an opportunity to bless two high school graduates as they transition from foster care to college through a service project created by the Class of 2026, “Project BAG” (Bless A Grad).
The freshmen have created a wishlist for two Class of 2023 graduates- Kyle who will be attending Texas State, and Kate who will be attending Texas A&M- Corpus Christi next fall (not their real names for privacy reasons). These amazing young people have advocates through CASA (Child Advocates of San Antonio) who are thrilled that Lutheran High School will be supporting them on this journey. The wishlists contain a few items they specifically asked for, but most of the items listed are simply brainstormed suggestions. Feel free to purchase items from the list, something similar, or anything at all that someone who is transitioning college would need. Any and all ideas are welcome! We will be collecting items through Friday, May 5th. Items can be brought to Nikole Killough at the front desk, or arrange a pick up with Amy Sanders. Orders placed through Amazon or another site can be shipped directly to Amy if desired (email [email protected] for the shipping address). The LHS community is incredibly supportive, and this is an amazing opportunity to show others our generosity while blessing two deserving students who could use some encouragement and love. If nothing else, please commit to praying for Kyle and Kate as they take this next step in their lives.
