The Lutheran High School experience is about nurturing faith while we push students to pursue excellence. The atmosphere at LHS is special, and we want our facilities to match the magic our students create in campus culture.
Our plan to provide new academic and auditorium space will deepen the roots planted at the Greehey Campus and strengthen our ability to sustain and grow this ministry. Our students will have ample opportunities to positively impact the community to the glory of Jesus Christ as they use this space to design, build, perform, and worship during school and through community events. Thank you to those who have already pledged to support this project! |
The NeedChristianity Today shares that since 1976 the number of people in the United States who identify as Christian has declined from 91 percent to 64 percent in 2022. We believe it is imperative that we have a growing, not a declining, body of Christ. To accomplish that goal, we need young people who are ready to impact their community to the glory of Jesus Christ, not only as pastors and teachers but through all sorts of vocations.
Many students and families come to LHS knowing that we will build on the foundation of faith they have already laid. For other families, we are blessed to use robotics, athletics, drama, academics, and health science along with many other programs to introduce students to the love of Christ as students grow physically, intellectually, emotionally, and most importantly, spiritually. A new classroom building with auditorium space will add approximately 10,000 feet of academic space and strengthen our capacity to serve more students and lead them to a relationship with Jesus Christ as they pursue their passions in the classroom, on the competition field, and through extracurricular activities. Increased auditorium space will allow our robotics teams increased bandwidth to host competitions, our drama team a place to perform, and community partners space to conduct fellowship and help young people grow in their faith. |
Building SpecificsDistinctives of the proposed facility include:
• The academic space will include approximately 10,000 square feet, including classroom and auditorium/multi-use space. • Active learning classrooms to replace at least one of the modular buildings. • Auditorium space to be used for drama, chapel, and community events that currently occupy our competition gym and cause undo wear and tear on the court. • Sufficient cafeteria space to replace the current space that does not have sufficient seats for our growing student body. • Storage for drama and other event needs. • This new space will allow LHS to grow to our goal of 184 students and still have room for additional students. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2025, with the building slated to be ready for occupancy at the beginning of the 2026-27 school year. Lutheran High School has engaged architecture firm Powers Goolsby and general contractor Marksman Construction for the project. |
