There’s plenty of room for “drama” in Lutheran High’s theatre department. If you enjoy acting and don’t mind real drama, then the Mustang Players could be for you or your student. We average 3-4 shows per year including our TAPPS One Act Play competition piece and a spring play. This year we added a holiday play and are currently rehearsing for another show to be near spring break.

We have competed in TAPPS for three years and have participated at the state meet. Under the direction of Mr. Jamie Martinez, we have produced shows such as “The Diviners”, “Sweet Nothing in My Ear”, “The Adventures of Captain Starblaster” and currently, “Tracks.”

The philosophy of Mr. Martinez is that students learn best by being on stage, so many freshman and sophomores get stage time in their first years. A positive attitude and a willingness to listen and learn are key in this program according to Mr. Martinez. And much like many of the other programs at LHS, you can still participate in other programs such as sports as we all work together to make sure the student can have the optimal high school experience.

We hope you will consider LHS and our classroom Black Box Theatre to be your new theatre home. Come by to meet Mr. Martinez and take a tour of the Black Box and campus. We hope to see you soon.
