004 The Church & Its Story ½ credit
This course is a study of the early history of the church including persecution under the early emperors, how the church grew after Constantine and some of the early church fathers. Students will study how sanctuaries are arranged and the various parts of a church sanctuary are arranged and the various parts of a church sanctuary. They will also learn about the parts of a worship service and find out how various Lutheran churches in San Antonio use parts of the service in different styles by inviting different pastors to speak. Students will learn about the idea of Christian vocation and service and explore ways that the students have been gifted by God to serve. Other topics covered will be the church's mission in the United States and the world and the church in the end times.
