Capital Campaign

Phase I building structure has been fully funded through the generous blessing of a $3 million dollar gift by The Greehey Family Foundation.  The board of directors is currently seeking to raise an additional $600,000 to equip the new building with all necessary furnishings.

The LHS board of directors is currently developing a comprehensive capital program to support the construction costs of phase II and III projects of the campus expansion, as well as new athletic fields. LHS leaders appreciate your support at any level. What ever you are called to contribute, we welcome your generosity and thank you for your continued stewardship.

Capital Campaign Director, Stephen Eggold

2001 - LHS leadership team developed a five-year strategic plan that included a move to a permanent location.

2004 - LHS leadership team worked with B&A Architects to develop a master plan for new facilities which included classrooms, athletic facilities, library, auditorium and cafeteria.

2005 - LHS launched “Upon this Rock” capital campaign and raised nearly $1 million, which allowed the high school to acquire our current 54-acre site at 18104 Babcock Road. The property has one existing building, which currently serves as our administration office. Modular structures are being used for classrooms.

2008 - The Greehey Family Foundation contributed $3 million to fund phase I of the expansion of the school’s campus. The donation, the single largest gift ever received by LHS, is being used to construct a new 40,000-square foot building which will include the school’s band and choir rooms; art room; biology, physics and chemistry labs; classrooms; dining area; gymnasium; weight room; and locker rooms. The project broke ground in July and is scheduled for completion in Spring of 2009. LHS is renamed “Lutheran High School of San Antonio – The Greehey Campus.”

2013 - Phase II of the campus expansion, including approximately 15,000 square feet of classrooms and administrative office space to be built on four acres, is scheduled to begin construction.

2015 - Phase III of the campus expansion, including a 400 to 500-seat auditorium, the renovation of the original administrative office building to a state-of-the-art library and media center, and the addition of classrooms and a full-service cafeteria, is scheduled to begin construction.

Other plans include the construction of 23 acres of athletic fields for soccer, football, baseball, softball and track.
