Letter From The Editors
Dear LHS Student Body:
We as senior editors of the
Lutheran High School ‘Stang feel compelled to express our already
existent pride in the students of our school. Only three months into
the school year, and we have already enacted our theme verse:
Ephesians 2:8-10 “For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus
to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Between
our service day at Brackenridge Park back in September, Future Freshmen
Day, and the fantastic turn out for the canned food drive for Mission
Lutherana, our school has definitely shown God’s workmanship working
through us.
Our school
brought ninety-three students to clear out the bamboo forest, and we
think that it’s safe to say that we accomplished that endeavor. Instead
of simply clearing out the bamboo five feet or so deep, our school took
the initiative and cleared out the entire wall of bamboo. The workers
at the park were surprised at our accomplishment, but I think the
students were as well. More surprises ensued as our school produced
over 1,000 cans for the Mission Luterana food drive; more than both the
participating middle schools combined!
However,
God has blessed us with all different talents besides those of hacking
up bamboo and stacking cans. This school year, many students will
submit their writing and photography to the paper, showing their gifts
and talents that God has bestowed in them. The newspaper could even use
your talents which you might not even know you have!
As
editors-in-chief of the school newspaper, we, Mary Garant and Dottie
Avery, are proud to introduce the very first issue of
The ‘Stang
to all of our readers. We hope you enjoy the international articles and
reviews of all of our school’s events, including our efforts to show
God’s workmanship.
If you
have any suggestions for future articles, please feel free to contact
one of us about your ideas.
Thanks a
bunch, and we hope you enjoy reading the very first issue of the ‘Stang
for the 2007-2008 school year.
Yours in
Christ,
Mary
Garant & Dottie Avery
